Trizanne Barnard cut her teeth at the world-famous Klein Constantia winery. But since 2008 she's been making her own path in the wine world with Trizanne Signature Wines. Focusing on the regions of Elim on the southernmost tip of the Western Cape and by contrast, the hot, dry climate of Swartland.
Winemaking >
Harvested from the lovely vineyards of Elim on soils varying from shale,
gravel and Ferricrete also known as Koffieklip, minimal intervention
throughout the winemaking process created a beautiful medium-bodied
red. The 2019 Syrah is a great example of cool-climate Syrah and a
great counterpoint to the more commonly found warm-climate Syrah in
South Africa. After de-stemming the wine fermented naturally in open-top
fermenters and benefitted from daily punch-downs. The wine then spent
11 months in new and older French oak and was bottled in December
2019. The wine was made in a natural way, with only sulphur additions.
