Reserve Sauvignon Blanc / Semillon, Trizanne Signature Wines

Trizanne Signature Wines
Product Code: TW02ZZWC

Tasting Notes

The Reserve white wine consists of only two old 500L barrels; a single barrel of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon respectively. Using the more sun-exposed Sauvignon fruit, this wine manages to create tension between power and elegance. An integrated, bright, medium-bodied wine with its generosity held in check by an elegant mineral structure. Awarded 91 points by Christian Eedes (www.winemag.co.za) the Reserve Sauvignon Blanc Semillon also received 4.5 Stars at the RisCura White Hot Wine Awards 2014. Rich aromatics of lime, white flowers and a touch of herbs. The Elim minerality is very apparent on the palate - layered with fruit and subtle wood spice. An elegant wine with incredible longevity and ample ageing potential.

            [MediaNotes] =>
            [ServingSuggestion] =>
            [WineMakingNotes] => Harvest started in the second week of February and continued for two weeks.
The different parcels were whole bunch pressed and naturally fermented in a
combination of new and older french oak barrels. Extended lees work during
primary fermentation and the wine was left on the lees after fermentation for
10 months. Meticulous blending of the various parcels took place before
bottling in December 2020.

I then returned to home ground and joined the winemaking team at Klein Constantia. In 2004 I was offered the opportunity of starting Anwilka wines in conjunction with Klein Constantia role-players and Bordeaux winemakers. The four invaluable years at Anwilka and my international experience gave me the confidence to start my own brand, and in 2008 I went solo. Since the very first vintage my focus has always been on two very diverse wine regions, namely Elim and the Swartland.

I currently live in Kommetjie, a quaint village on the Southern Peninsula, and make my wines just down the road in Noordhoek. Apart from everything wine-related. making, judging on various panels or just straightforward drinking, I also make time to surf whenever I get the opportunity. I feel that the ocean recharges me, and teaches one patience and respect for nature.

                    [Notes4] => After graduating from Stellenbosch University with a degree in viticulture and oenology, I worked multiple vintages in Australia, France and Portugal.

About this product +

Producer >

Trizanne Barnard cut her teeth at the world-famous Klein Constantia winery.  But since 2008 she's been making her own path in the wine world with Trizanne Signature Wines. Focusing on the regions of Elim on the southernmost tip of the Western Cape and by contrast, the hot, dry climate of Swartland.

Winemaking >

Harvest started in the second week of February and continued for two weeks. The different parcels were whole bunch pressed and naturally fermented in a combination of new and older french oak barrels. Extended lees work during primary fermentation and the wine was left on the lees after fermentation for 10 months. Meticulous blending of the various parcels took place before bottling in December 2020.
