Expression of the fragrance of the Chianti Classico fruit

The estate has been owned by the Marquis Antinori since 1985, the year of the sixtieth anniversary of the wine activity by the family.

The vineyards have been cared for since the Middle Ages by the Vallombrosan monks.

Viticulture

Tenuta Pèppoli is located five kilometers northeast of Tenuta Tignanello and covers a total area of 100 hectares, of which 50 are cultivated with vineyards, from which Pèppoli Chianti Classico DOCG is born. Tenuta Pèppoli, as per tradition, also produces the homonymous Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Pèppoli Red Wine Vinegar, produced by the transformation of Pèppoli wine into vinegar. The vineyards, exposed to the East – North / East, despite the unusual position, meet an ideal microclimate: they are located in a small valley that maintains the heat, on a stony ground rich in minerals, capable of transmitting a fruity and lively character to the Sangiovese. The vineyards of Pèppoli are mainly cultivated in Sangiovese with a small share of complementary varieties such as Merlot, Syrah and Malvasia. On the estate there are 27 hectares of olive groves with 5,500 plants, some of which are centuries old (varieties Frantoio, Leccino and Moraiolo) for the production of organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil Pèppoli.

Winemaking

Since 2013, the grapes have been directly vinified in the Antinori winery in the Chianti Classico. The aging takes place in the traditional large barrels of Slavonian oak and a small steel dimension. A Chianti Classico conceived to be appreciated in the full expression of the fruit, capable of representing the territory of Chianti Classico and its historical variety through the typical floral and fruity aromas.
