[WineMakingNotes] => "Château Chantalouette is the second wine of Château de Sales. Owned by the same family for over five centuries, the 116 acre estate is the largest in the
appellation and boasts the only true castle of Pomerol. Traditional practices in the vineyard, such as horse-ploughing and hand-harvesting, followed by meticulous winemaking, lead to beautifully crafted wines that are expressive of their terroir. Traditional racking and light egg white fining help to preserve the brightness of the fruit."

[Notes1] => Set up in 1937 by Jean-Pierre Moueix, Moueix has become the largest wine merchant on the right bank. Jean-Pierre’s insight into the aging potential of Merlot here led to the purchase of a number of top class châteaux in the 50s. These include La Fleur-Pétrus, Trotanoy and the infamous Pétrus. Jean-Pierre’s son, Christian Moueix runs the company. His focus on soil health in the vineyards and the retention of a sense of place in each bottle, through careful handling in the winery, won him the accolade of Decanter ‘Man of the Year’ in 2008 and secures the continued quality of their wines for many vintages to come.

About this product +

Winemaking >

"Château Chantalouette is the second wine of Château de Sales. Owned by the same family for over five centuries, the 116 acre estate is the largest in the appellation and boasts the only true castle of Pomerol. Traditional practices in the vineyard, such as horse-ploughing and hand-harvesting, followed by meticulous winemaking, lead to beautifully crafted wines that are expressive of their terroir. Traditional racking and light egg white fining help to preserve the brightness of the fruit."
