Renacer

Renacer

Founded in 2003 by Chilean, Patricio Reich, Bodega Renacer is in Perdriel, in the foothills of the Andes. With a little over 35 hectares of vineyard planted, Renacer also buys high quality Malbec grapes from partner growers in the Uco Valley and Medrano. The estate’s vineyards lie at 1,000 metres altitude on alluvial soils with a stony sand over a richer clay layer below and many vines are over 50 years old. Well-known Italian winemaker, Alberto Antonini consults here and they were the first estate in Argentina to employ precision viticulture, a system that analyses specific areas within a vineyard so as to better manage them and have less of an environmental impact. They were also the first Argentinean winery to be run on solar power and to neutralise its carbon emissions. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel and cement tanks and ageing in 225 litre French oak barrels.

Luján de Cuyo
Argentina

Renacer has a long-term commitment to the environment and sustainable production.

Located in Luján de Cuyo, one of the best areas for the production of premium wines in Mendoza, where land meets the sky and the Andes.

In 2018, we began the process of converting all our vineyards to organic. In order to obtain the certification, we had to guarantee the management of the soils, preserving their fertility and biodiversity, controlling certain weeds mechanically and without using chemical synthesis products.

In 2021 we received the certification in both the vineyard and the winery, being able to produce organic wines.

Viticulture

We have 30 hectares of our own. Some of them more than seventy years old, planted with Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc with a production of less than 8 tons per hectare. In 2021 we obtained organic vineyard certification, reaffirming our commitment to the environment and sustainable production. In addition, to take advantage of the expressions of Mendoza’s different terroirs, we work on a long-term relationship with the best local producers in the micro-regions of Valle de Uco and Luján de Cuyo. Due to natural geological processes, soil properties can vary laterally over distances as small as a few meters resulting in extremely different wines. Recognising these small-scale variations within a vineyard through weather stations, aerial photographs and conductivity studies; and managing them in a differentiated way allows our team to perform precision viticulture and achieve wines that better reflect the terroir.

Winemaking

The tanks room is equipped with cutting-edge Italian technology and has a capacity of 550,000 litres in stainless steel tanks and 1,280,000 litres in underground concrete tanks. In 2017 we inaugurated a new barrel room, which is stunning in its design and solemnity. The room has more than 250 barrels of 225 litres, mostly of French origin, coming from the Allier and Tronçais valleys; in addition to barrels of 500 litres and “roll fermentors” of 600 litres. We use advanced technology for temperature and humidity control, guaranteeing the care of each one and the maintenance of the wine in perfect conditions while it evolves inside each barrel. In 2021 we started making organic wines, guaranteeing traceability and the use of organic inputs throughout the process.
