Irvine Wines

Irvine is owned by the Wade and Miles families who together own over 400 acres of vineyards in the Barossa. Peter Miles is a 4th generation vigneron and the original plantings from 1867 (Shiraz) remain on the property today. Irvine wines come predominantly from the Eden Valley vineyards. Their persistent focus is on Merlot, they are one of the most awarded Merlot producers in Australia. Their focus on DNA and viticulture is vital, without good fruit…. Head winemaker Lachlan Duncan has worked vintages in Ribera del Duero, Oregon and Valpolicella. He was instrumental in developing today’s style in iconic neighbouring winery Rockford. These wines are restrained, elegant and complex. Like a good album, they’ll grow on you!

One of the largest privately-owned premium grape growers in the Barossa with over 400 acres of premium Barossa and Eden Valley vineyards. Four generations of Miles’ family expertise ensures the fruit they grow is of the highest quality and harvested with precise timing.

Viticulture

Our six vineyards span approximately 400 acres across Eden Valley and Barossa Valley – the two sub-regions of the place we call home – Barossa. With viticulture and winemaking in our DNA, we manage all vines with the upmost care and commitment. Our belief is that you cannot make great wine without great fruit. Our strength is derived from our long history in growing grapes, and dedication to perfecting the entire process, from vine to wine. While each season presents new challenges, it is the way we adapt and nurture our vines that ensures the finest wine is produced, no matter what obstacles each season presents. Our six Barossa vineyards include Haslemere, Brian’s Block, Casey’s Vineyard, Ben’s Block, Ruth’s Block and the original Irvine Vineyard – home of the Grand Merlot, in Eden Valley.

Winemaking

Irvine’s six vineyards span over 400 acres of the most esteemed Barossa and Eden Valley regions. These prime regions are home to some of the world’s oldest and finest Shiraz and Riesling plantations. An inherent understanding and respect for provenance together with an ongoing commitment to excellence will ensure the Irvine legacy endures. In addition to Haslemere and Brian’s Block, the vineyards include Casey’s Vineyard in Craneford, Ben’s Block in Penrice, Ruth’s Block in Ebenezer, and the original Irvine Vineyard, home of the Grand Merlot, in Eden Valley.
