Château Sainte Croix

Based on 50 hectares Château Sainte Croix is now run by the fourth generation of the Pélépol family – Florence and Stéphane. An old fortified farm of the 12th Century the property was occupied by Cistercian monks. In 1924 the Pélépol family had the opportunity to buy 5 hectares of vines, having vinified their wines at the co-operative, they turned to Château Sainte Croix, then in rubble and rebuilt it to its former glory, producing wines on the surrounding lands ever since. In the winery, free run juice from Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah gives colour and fragrance to their classic Provence Rosé.

Located between Lac de Carcès and Thoronet Abbey. In this majestic setting of Provence, Château Sainte Croix extends over more than 50 hectares of vineyards.

The vineyard in Provence includes various grape varieties, some of which such as “S Muscat” have made the estate famous. Other plots are located on the Carcès plateau, caressed by the Mistral and the magnificent southern sun.

Viticulture

Old fortified farm of the 12th century, Sainte Croix was occupied by the Cistercian monks while they were building the Thoronet Abbey three kilometres away from there. In 1924, while the Pélépol family lives thanks to its farming activity, the opportunity to buy 5 hectares of vines is offered to them. At the beginning, they carried the grapes to the cooperative cellar of Carcès but in 1927, Fernand Pélépol decided to create his first cellar in the village. After a refurbishment of the old farm in rubble, the estate has grown over the years. It is the fourth generation, consisting of Florence and Stéphane Pélépol, who continue the family adventure. The Château Sainte Croix team has no less than a dozen employees and the vineyard now covers more than 50 hectares.

Winemaking

Sustainable farming. From the top of its 35 hectares of vineyards, the Château includes various grape varieties, some of which, like the “Muscat”, have made the domain famous. The 15 hectares of remaining plots are located on the plateau of Carcès, caressed by the Mistral and the beautiful sun of Provence.
