[Notes1] => Based in the village of Bué, in the south-western corner of the Sancerre appellation, François Crochet marches to the beat of a different drum. The majority of his 11 ha domaine is planted on chalky limestone (locally
described as Caillotes) whilst the rest is on a blend of clay and chalk, known as Terres Blanches. Farming is organic. In the cellar, the
envelope is pushed to gain every inch of flavour and precision and François has recently begun doing some fermenting in ovoid tanks in order to add more weight to the wines. With minimum
intervention, the results are extraordinary; richer and rounder than traditional Sancerre but with superb, underlying freshness and
minerality.
[Notes2] => Loire Valley
[Notes3] => Sancerre
[Notes4] => This ex-rugby player has been revealed since 2000 with red halls. The ambition of François Crochet, who now has a new cellar, does not stop at pinot noir. Its Sauvignons also go upmarket and precision, expressing the rich and ripe style typical of the Bué area - especially the Oak Merchant. Highly successful, new white parcellaires (Le Grand Chemarin, Le Petit Chemarin) make their appearance in 2014 and 2015. The remarkable precision, the accuracy of definition of the terroirs and the care given to all the wines from the entry-level, ensured his first star at the estate last year.
[Notes5] => The wines after a tender and rich 2015, the 2016 resumes their Ligerian equilibrium with a mature profile. The range of whites is well in place. a tradition sancerre well representative of the style of the estate announces vintage places straight and straightforward, including Chêne Marchand, one of the best ambassadors of this vintage of Bué. Reds unroll more vigorous and firm materials. A few years of bottles will do them the greatest good.
