            [Notes2] =>
            [Notes3] => First mentioned as far back as 1120, fourteenth century Morey was a place
of asylum for Cistercian monks who appeared to have possessed numerous
vineyards and even a winery by 1306. The appellation extends from
Chambolle-Musigny to Gevrey-Chambertin and covers around 148 hectares,
80% of which are planted with grapes for red wines.
Les Chaffots indicates places where hay barns used to stand. Elsewhere, the
name is "Echaffaud" (scaffold), forks etc. So it is probably the place where
those sentenced to death were executed

            [WineMakingNotes] => Vines grow on limestone outcrops covered in thin, red-coloured soils, containing marl, iron and stones, some of which are fairly sizeable. The rocky subsoil is highly resistant but fissured, allowing the vine roots to dig down deep, hence their surprising longevity. Certain plots can reach up to 100 years` of age.

                    [Notes1] => Certified biodynamic in 2015 Domaine Michel Magnien (18ha) is run by forward thinking 5th generation winemaker Frédéric Magnien. This
conversion has released a greater expression of terroir in the wines. In 2015 Frédéric ceased using new French oak barrels, replacing them with 160 litre terracotta amphora. In our tasting we tasted barrel versus amphorae, it was obvious to see that the amphorae brings a freshness and life to the wines that the oak cannot provide. All of the wines we have brought in are aged in amphorae. The style of Frédéric’s wines seeks freshness and fragrance. Many of his vineyards are at higher
altitudes, naturally producing cooler climate expressions. Monts
Luisants is planted at 350m, high for the rolling hills of Burgundy. In recognition of a world where wines are released and drunk too young Frederic releases wines when he feels they are open enough to express their terroir in the glass.
                    [Notes2] => Burgundy
                    [Notes3] => Morey-Saint-Denis
                    [Notes4] => After years of application, Domaine Michel Magnien is certified in biodynamic by Demeter. At each stage, our work follows the rhythm of the synodic cycle of the moon. We are fully committed to organic agricultural principles in our management of vines and wines.
Thanks to Michel Magnien`s special care for his vines over the years, the wines are unique and faithful to the best terroirs in Burgundy. Our Estate is now managed by Frédéric, the fifth generation, who strives to raise our wines at the highest level of quality

Vines grow on limestone outcrops covered in thin, red-coloured soils, containing marl, iron and stones, some of which are fairly sizeable. The rocky subsoil is highly resistant but fissured, allowing the vine roots to dig down deep, hence their surprising longevity. Certain plots can reach up to 100 years` of age.
