            [Notes4] =>
            [MediaNotes] => James Suckling, 91 pts: « A wine with a pretty ripe-fruit character and ripe, chewy tannins. Some toasted oak as well. I think it needs another two or three years to soften the tannins and bring it all together. Serious 2011 Pomerol. »

            [ServingSuggestion] =>
            [WineMakingNotes] => "Formed by a gentle, sloping plot, the west-facing vineyard enjoys ideal sun exposure, thanks to which some of its parcels were spared from the great frost of 1956. The Merlot and Cabernet Franc vines, of an average age of 40 years, are planted on gravelly clay enhanced by an iron-rich subsoil. The vineyard is maintained traditionally and conscientiously throughout the year. Vinification takes place in thermo-regulated concrete tanks, and aging is carried out in oak barrels (35% new) for 12-14 months.
Situated in one of the warmest parts of Pomerol, Château Bourgneuf produces wines that are deep and dense, layered and complex, with perfectly rounded tannins. The
wine’s ripe fruit aromas make it seductive when young, but a few years of cellaring are strongly rewarded."

                    [Notes1] => Set up in 1937 by Jean-Pierre Moueix, Moueix has become the largest wine merchant on the right bank. Jean-Pierre’s insight into the aging potential of Merlot here led to the purchase of a number of top class châteaux in the 50s. These include La Fleur-Pétrus, Trotanoy and the infamous Pétrus. Jean-Pierre’s son, Christian Moueix runs the company. His focus on soil health in the vineyards and the retention of a sense of place in each bottle, through careful handling in the winery, won him the accolade of Decanter ‘Man of the Year’ in 2008 and secures the continued quality of their wines for many vintages to come.

About this product +

Winemaking >

"Formed by a gentle, sloping plot, the west-facing vineyard enjoys ideal sun exposure, thanks to which some of its parcels were spared from the great frost of 1956. The wine’s ripe fruit aromas make it seductive when young, but a few years of cellaring are strongly rewarded."

James Suckling, 91 pts: « A wine with a pretty ripe-fruit character and ripe, chewy tannins. Some toasted oak as well. I think it needs another two or three years to soften the tannins and bring it all together. Serious 2011 Pomerol. »
